World Welcome
World Welcome is a ministry that seeks to express the love of Christ to international students living in Austin. Many international students face loneliness, isolation and confusion. Through World Welcome, students attend social events, Bible studies and English classes. This ministry also provides practical assistance for the students as they adjust to life in the U.S.
When:
World Welcome sponsors a number of events for students that include Bible lessons on Mondays throughout the school year from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., friendship partners who meet on their own time, event planners who also meet on their own time, and event day volunteers for special events scheduled in September, March and May. Expect three hours for these events.
How can I help/participate?
To assist international students through the World Welcome Mission, you can volunteer for the following positions:
- Small group leader:
Lead a small group of international women discussing the English language and the Bible. - Substitute small group leader:
Those who can’t commit to lead small groups every week can sign up to help out when the regular leader cannot attend. - Friendship partner:
Meet one-on-one with an international student. - Event planner:
Plan and prepare for special events for the families of international students. These events are typically in September, March and May. - Event day volunteers:
Attend events and socialize with the students.
