Daily Bread
Once a week, Covenant Presbyterian members provide the “Daily Bread” (a warm meal) for about 40 homeless teens living in the University area. These teens are served by LifeWorks, an Austin-based non-profit agency that offers youth and family services to homeless children and young adults, ages 10-23.
When:
Volunteers are needed for Daily Bread on Tuesdays to cook and serve the meal. The meal must be dropped off before 4 p.m. at University Baptist Church near the University of Texas. We serve the meal from 4-5:30 p.m. at University Baptist Church.
How can I help/participate?
To help with Daily Bread program, you can
- buy groceries—Covenant reimburses the cost of groceries.
- prepare a meal and deliver it to University Baptist Church.
- prepare part of the meal (as part of a team of several cooks).
- deliver the meal for someone who cooks.
- serve the meal.
- donate backpacks and/or sleeping bags around Christmas.
