We
are happy that you have chosen to explore Covenant Presbyterian
Church.
If you are curious about how people move from "going to church"
to "being the church," you will want to learn about Covenant's
Lay Ministry Program.
Covenant's
Lay Ministry program wants to help equip you to be mature followers
of Jesus. We want to look like Jesus- in our commitment to serve
others, in our joy of worship, to absorb the word of God, to fellowship
with other believers and to reach into the community and the world
to share the wealth of the good news.
What
exactly does that mean in the context of Lay Ministry?
New
Member Classes
Lay
Ministry welcomes our newest visitors and assists them as they
become members.
The New Member Connections Class provides a way for you to learn
the
following:
- Who
is Jesus?
- What
is a Christian?
- What
is a Presbyterian?
- What
is special about Covenant?
- Who
are the staff members?
- Where
are the restrooms?
Register for the September New Members Connections Class by contacting
Beth Bishop at bbishop@covenant.org
Lay Min helps organize social gatherings for new members so that
we all get to know a few more faces in the family that worships
at Covenant.

Spiritual
Gifts Discovery Class
The
discovery that you are made in a specific way that makes you a
perfect fit for certain ministries is the joy of our Spiritual
Gifts Discovery Class. We offer a weekend class in October and
a 5 week Sunday School series that begins in January.
To
register for this class or to ask for an alternate method of gaining
this information contact Beth Bishop at bbishop@covenant.org
Ministry
Matching
After
you know how you are gifted and what are some of the factors that
will direct your service, contact the Lay Ministry office for
a Ministry Match. We meet with you individually or in very small
groups to walk through the offerings that best meet your needs.
This match is as concerned with how you are being fed spiritually
as it is with how you are giving back.
We
use the guideline of Worship + 2. This means the goal for every
member is to be involved in worship with the body of Christ on
a regular basis. In addition to that, we hope to grow into a congregation
of people who then
(1.) find a way to return to God his bounty through service to
the world, the community or the local church. Then (2.) find a
way to regulary seek to grow spiritually whether that is a study
group, a small group, an accountability partner - the choices
are endless. We would love to help you find the "just right"
way to find a balance with church so that you are growing and
yet still have involvement in your community so that you can be
salt and light to those who don't yet know Christ.
Please contact Maureen Crawley if you would like copies of the
Ministry Description Book, The Mission Opportunities Book or the
New Member Guide.
She can be reached at mcrawley@covenant.orgor
