All-Church Day of Service

On November 12, 2011, Covenant will provide opportunities throughout the community to participate in its Day of Service. Check out the list below to see how you can help.

Register on the patio on Sundays in October so that Team Leaders can communicate the specific time, place and what to bring for each project. You can also register by contacting Kay Austin at 334-3030 or kaustin@covenant.org.

Allandale Neighborhood – Lamar Middle School

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • General cleanup of grounds
  • Removing old signs
  • Repair benches
  • Power wash front entrance and sidewalks

Blood Drive*

Self-Scheduled

Donate blood at The Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas. Schedule your appointment to donate at www.inyourhands.org.
*Note: Some health conditions, medications, and travel may temporarily or permanently prevent people from donating blood. All donors must be in good health, at least 17 years old, and weigh at least 115 pounds to donate whole blood.

Austin Disaster Relief Network – Bastrop Area Wildfire Cleanup

7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Must be over 14 years of age.

  • General cleanup of grounds
  • Sift and sort debris

Disaster Relief Collection

Place donations in collection bin in lobby of Covenant Hall

  • Leather work gloves
  • Flat-blade shovels
  • Garden rakes
  • Face masks (N95)

Feed Firefighters

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Provide homemade lunch and baked goods for firefighters at

  • Balcones Fire Station
  • Spicewood Springs/Four Iron Station

Gullett Elementary School (Allandale)

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Work alongside the Gullet volunteer landscaping committee:

  • Pull weeds or mulch
  • Other various work on campus grounds and play areas

Manos de Cristo

9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • Lawn maintenance
  • Trask pick up
  • General interior cleaning (windows, sweeping)

Movin' & Groovin'

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several volunteers can go along with a regular crew on a Saturday furniture pick up and delivery run

Partners in Hope/Webb Middle School (St. John's)

9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Help clean up trash in the St. John's community

Prayer Shawl Ministry

10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Knit/crochet shawls together at the church to be donated to Dell Children's Hospital

Renaissance-Austin

9:30 to 11 a.m.

  • Visit with residents as they participate in "Bazaar"
  • Covenant's Journey Youth Choir will sing

Samaritan Counseling

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Use your basic carpentry skills to help build a mailbox structure or shelving unit in kids' room

Street Youth Ministry*

2 to 5:30 p.m.

  • Clean up the "Drag"
  • Fellowship with homeless street youth
  • Prepare/deliver lunch for the street youth (suggestion: chili & cornbread, homemade cookies/brownies)
  • Wash laundry for street youth at laundromat near "Drag"
*Note: Children involved in this project may hear inappropriate language or be exposed to things that are difficult for them to process, e.g. teen pregnancy or the idea that kids are living alone on the street, etc. Their participation is at their parents' discretion and it is suggested that parents participate with their children, especially for anyone under 17. Terry Cole will provide a debrief after the event to help teens process what they've seen.
