What are Covenant's worship times?

We worship on Sunday mornings at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Covenant offers a variety of worship styles. Our first service on Sundays, the 8:15 service, held in the Sanctuary, is an intimate gathering where communion is served. For traditional services (sometimes called “High Church”) that include a choir, instrumental accompaniment, and sometimes an organ, visit the 9:30 or 11:00 services in the Sanctuary.

For a relaxed and contemporary service, visit our praise-filled worship service held in the Fellowship Hall of our Fellowship and Education Building.

If you have children and would like them to attend Sunday School while you are in worship, we offer children’s programming for the 9:30 and 11 services. However, children are always welcome in worship. There are cry rooms available for those who enjoy hollering.

We also offer two additional services outside of Sunday morning. Each Wednesday at 7 a.m., Covenant offers a lay-led contemplative worship service held in the Sanctuary.

On the first Sunday of the month at 4 p.m. Covenant holds our Service for Wholeness in the Chapel of the Fellowship and Education Building, Room 100. This candlelit, contemplative service incorporates Taize-style music, prayer and God’s word. The service allows all who are present to offer prayers and thanksgiving for God’s promise of wholeness, healing, recovery and renewal. Holy Communion is celebrated during the Service for Wholeness.

During Holy Week in the Spring and during the Advent season, check our Worship page for special worship offerings.

Now that I’ve come to a Sunday service, what do I do next?

Keep coming. Serve with us. Enjoy a meal with us. Consider becoming a member of Covenant. Contact Beth Bishop if you some help detemining your next step.

I'm ready to become a member of Covenant. Who do I talk to?

At Covenant, we believe that membership is more than just signing your name on a card and showing up on Sundays. It’s a commitment to be a part of a community of Christ followers. We offer a membership course several times a year which offers you information about what it means to be a Christian, what it means to be a Presbyterian, and what it means to be a member of Covenant. Learn more about our Explore Membership Class.

What is the menu for this week's dinners?

Throughout the school year, many small groups meet on Monday night. Dinner is available to provide an easy option during the busy week.

During the school year, Wednesday nights are a primary night for worship, learning and hanging out at Covenant. On Wednesday nights, we offer fellowship  that is family friendly with children, youth and adult educational programming as well as childcare for young ones. The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with children and youth choir practice,  we offer dinner for everyone, then head into age-specific activities for children, middle school and youth programming. Small children can be taken to childcare during this time.

For adults, we have small groups meeting on campus after dinner, as well as adult choir and handbell practice.

We hope that you will make Wednesday night at Covenant a part of your week.

What Bible study opportunities does Covenant offer?

Lots. We have classes that cover a variety of topics, Wednesday night small group study, classes for women, men, and small groups held on campus and in congregants' homes. If you are not sure where you fit in and just want to talk to someone about what group might make sense for you, contact Associate Pastor for Discipleship Tom Mitchell at tmitchell@covenant.org or 512-334-3047. You also can contact the administrative assistant for discipleship Mary Jo North at mjnorth@covenant.org or 512-334-3003.

What are some of Covenant’s summer programs?

During the summer, we are still "open for business." On Sundays, we continue to worship together, we continue to provide opportunities for children, youth, adults and seniors in our many class offerings, and we continue to serve together in the Austin community and on mission trips. Our campus programs serving the community continue throughout the summer, like the Allandale AA meetings and Christ-centered Yoga. The Children’s ministry, "Club 56" (a program for 5th and 6th graders), Middle School and High School ministries (called “Youth programs”) all have special events and programs during the summer. And don’t forget Vacation Bible School, held the second week of June, open for children aged 2 through 10 (children entering the 5th grade).

Our Wednesday night programs run September through the end of May. Our Covenant Preschool and Child’s Day Out offerings follow the school year as well.
